• Project name, sponsor, version history and approval signatures block.

• Background and business problem statement with quantified pain where possible.

• Project objectives and explicit out-of-scope items to prevent scope creep.

• User personas and primary user journeys with entry points and success outcomes.

• Functional requirements listed as numbered, testable statements — not vague wishes.

• Non-functional requirements — performance, uptime SLA, browser support and accessibility level.

• Integration requirements with third-party systems, API documentation links and auth method.

• Data fields and validation rules for forms, products, orders or customer records.

• User roles and permissions matrix for admin, staff, customer and partner access.

• Content responsibilities — who supplies copy, images, legal text and in what format.

• Design deliverables expected — wireframes, UI kit, responsive breakpoints and design system.

• Acceptance criteria and UAT test cases signed off before development starts.

• Milestone schedule with payment triggers tied to deliverables, not calendar dates alone.

• Hosting, domain and credential ownership defined in writing.

• Training, documentation and post-launch warranty period with response time commitments.

• Change request process — how new requirements are priced and scheduled.

• Assumptions and dependencies — client feedback turnaround, third-party API availability.

• Appendix for wireframes, sitemap, glossary and referenced brand or technical standards.
